6 Weeks to Jazz Improv!
How awesome would it feel to show up on stage with your instrument, take a deep breath, and absolutely ROCK a jazz solo!?
Hint:
This is how you'll leave the parking lot...

You feel SO FREE like the music just flows out of you, and you’re OVERJOYED to have a creative outlet that makes you look forward to getting up every day.

Hi! I’m Ginny, a fancy-pants, hoity-toity, award-winning classical flutist with a doctorate in music who got bit by the jazz bug. It took me FOREVER to find a teacher who was willing to teach me JAZZ on my flute instead of making me double on a more traditional jazz instrument, but I refused to give up!

Enter Lyman...

Lyman is a jazz expert and guitarist extraordinaire who plays in a band and is the epitome of cool. He even makes his own guitars!
Lyman took me on as a student and has been teaching me jazz for months now, and I’ve made SO MUCH PROGRESS!
And now, we're teaching people
JUST LIKE YOU
to improvise in just 6 weeks!
Lyman and I are teaming up to teach YOU all of the jazz essentials you need to play your first jazz solo!
With his killer jazz chops and my knowledge of how to teach music in the funest and most effective way possible, we’ve created the best jazz class EVER!
Here’s our not-so-evil plan…
Week One: Improvise NOW with your first three LEGO pieces!
Week Two: The only three chords you need to know!
Week Three: Add chromaticism, a.k.a. What makes jazz sound jazzy!
Week Four: Write your own licks!
Week Five: Your first (or second or third) jazz solo!
Week Six: It’s showtime!

Lyman is a jazz expert, and he has boiled down all of his teaching into a handful of secrets you can learn in no time to get you sounding like a cool cat FAST! Everything is easier with Lyman. Chord progressions? He’s got a trick! Solo patterns? He’s got a trick! Jazz style? He’s got a trick!
Ginny is a teaching expert, which means she can find the funnest, quickest, and more effective way to teach music! She has a special method that will help you practice effectively and effortlessly during the week so you can see fast progress without spending hours at your music stand You need one hour or practice TOPS… For the whole week :)

What makes us different than all the other jazz courses out there?
Well, we're glad you asked!
#1.
Our signature LEGO method of improvisation gets you sounding like a pro FAST! What if I told you that even jazz musicians can’t show up and ooze out amazing music without practicing? It’s true! Their secret? Having a bunch of tiny lego bricks of music in their heads that they can mix and match and assemble to fit any tune. In this class, we’ll show you the bricks, and you will learn to put them together to make anything you want!
#2.
Our class is PRACTICAL! We are teaching you a TON of great jazz techniques, but we are doing it with one tune in mind: Take The A Train. Other classes might make your brain spin trying to learn too many things at once while actually learning nothing, but when you leave our class, you will have an AMAZING understanding of the tune, its harmonies, and a collection of lego pieces to put together into your own original solo. You’ll feel like an absolute ROCKSTAR when you perform your solo at our last class, AND you’ll have all the tools you need to move on to your next tune!
#3.
We support you OUTSIDE of class time! Don’t you hate it when you leave your music lesson inspired, but then forget everything you’ve learned when you show up to practice? Us, too! So, we have designed special play-a-long practice sessions and a fun musical to-do list for every week to make sure you are making progress toward your goal of being a jazz musician. We even have practice ideas for when you CAN’T practice. We’re THAT CREATIVE and THAT THOROUGH!
So, are you in!?
Here's what you could be doing in 6 weeks...
You get everything you would get from a regular jazz course PLUS double the amazing teachers, bonus resources to help you make progress between classes, and our special lego improvisation method that will make playing as fun as your childhood lego batman set! (Did anyone else have that set?? With the little elevator!?)
The class starts on June 17th, 2025
We'll meet on Tuesdays at
5:30 p.m. E.T.
BUT....
Don't worry if you can't make it live!
You'll get ALL the replays to watch at your convenience AND you have access to Lyman and Ginny for the entire 6 weeks to get answers to all your questions!

Fun fact: This is Ginny's preferred way to take classes now :) She gets what she needs, when she needs it, and it's like the world revolves around her 🤩
Frequently Asked Questions...

What supplies do I need for the class?
Most importantly, you’ll need your instrument! You’ll also need a phone, tablet, or computer to watch the live classes and replays, a way to see or print PDFs, and you’ll want to listen to some audio files. If you have a phone, you’re good to go!
If you have any questions, email hello@songfoolery.com.
When does the class meet?
We meet on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Eastern/4:30 p.m. Central/3:30 p.m. Mountain/2:30 p.m. Pacific
What if I can’t come at that time?
You can watch the class ANY TIME that is convenient for you! You’ll get a replay link for every single class, AND you’ll have contact info for Ginny and Lyman so you can get help any time throughout the week. We value you and your jazz education, so we like to over-deliver here :)
What if I’m not good enough?
NOT POSSIBLE! As long as you can play a C major scale and a chromatic scale, you’re in GREAT shape! Your jazz solos will increase in difficulty as you get better, but you can play jazz no matter where you are at in your musical journey! If you don’t believe me, check out Ella Fitzgerald’s One-Note Samba! (After you listen, imagine me saying I told you so)

Not sure if the course is right for you?
Email hello@songfoolery.com and we’ll chat about it!
We promise we will NEVER recommend that you take a course unless we think it will help you. We don’t do that around here. So let’s chat! No pressure :)
