











About Ginny
Dr. Ginny Tutton is an award-winning teacher, performer, and scholar with a passion for crafting curricula and programs that are innovative, engaging, and accessible for modern audiences, both on the stage and in the lecture hall.
Much in demand as an educator, Dr. Tutton has taught flute at Centre College, Music Theory at Austin Peay State University, and is a frequent presenter at flute and music conferences. She delivers helpful and inventive lectures on flute, music education, and music theory, and she also hosts a musical, game show podcast called SongFoolery.
As a soloist, Dr. Tutton dazzles audiences with her colorful tone, virtuosic technique, and expressive phrasing. She enjoys creating unique and engaging recitals, pairing music with artwork in Images and Sound, providing historical vignettes in Flute Music of the 1940s and British Flute Playing at the Turn of the Twentieth Century, and mixing styles in A Flutist Learns Jazz.
Dr. Tutton holds a D.M.A. in Flute Performance from University of Kentucky, an M.M. in Flute Performance from University of Idaho, and a B.M. in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her primary teachers include Julie Hobbs and Leonard Garrison.

individualized practice on significant topics via drills; and implemented “lab days” that allow the students opportunities to bring their instruments and apply what they have learned.
